How a Glass of Wine with a Girlfriend Turned into a Twelve Year Charity Named Moon Angels!
How many times have you tried to agree on a date to get together with friends? When two friends, Sandy Sieg and Judy Schur decided on a monthly “Wine and Whine” session, they decided to meet on the full moon. As the ladies were talking over problems, Judy interjected that her daughter, Nancy Schur -Beymer, a pediatric oncology nurse at CHOC had a 12 year old patient named, Heather. Heather’s mother had lost her job due to the time she’d missed at work to be at the hospital. Heather was terminal yet wanted desperately to attend a special tea with her mother. Her mother couldn’t afford it so, Judy and Sandy decided to pay the $50.00 for Heather’s wish to be fulfilled. It seemed so easy to help a family facing cancer and thus Moon Angels was born. It was only a simple glass of wine together, but the result has been the ability to help so many families facing cancer and needing funds. Now in its 12th year, Moon Angels will host its annual fundraiser on Saturday November 5, 2016 from 1-3 pm St. Mary’s Church Guild Hall 428 Park Ave. Laguna Beach.
